Dr. Jordan's team is distributing a letter to his patients when they come in to appointments. This is the text:
Dear Friends, Families and Patients of the Byron Family Medical Centre:
It has been over 35 wonderful years since I started working at the Byron Family Medical Centre in February 1982. It has been my privilege and pleasure to get to know and care for many of you over the past several years. I have decided to step down from my University appointment at Western the end of June. What this means is that there will be a new physician team head replacing me in this role. My partners, Dr Sonny Cejic, Dr Scott McKay, Dr George Kim and I are delighted to introduce you to the physician who has been selected to replace me as physician in charge of Team C at the Byron Family Medical Centre. His name is Dr Andrew Hemphill. He is a Family Physician who graduated from our Family Medicine Residency Program at Western in 2014. He has done additional training in Family Medicine Obstetrics at the Scarborough East General hospital. He has been working as a Family Physician in Strathroy and in Northern Ontario since his graduation from Western. He has also included Emergency Room work and hospital care experience since he began a career in Family Physician. This background has prepared him well for an Academic Family Medicine appointment in the department of Family Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine, based at the Byron Family Medical Centre. Andrew is looking forward to taking on the opportunity of incorporating medical student and Family Medicine resident teaching responsibilities that his new role at the Family Medical Centre provides him. We are confident that he is going to be a great addition to the team in Byron and his official starting date with us will be on August 1st, 2017.
Going forward, I will continue to work on Team C at the Byron Family Medical Centre 2 half-days per week and will also continue to provide obstetrical care for patients of the Family Medical Centre along with Dr Hemphill. It has been a privilege and pleasure for me to work as part of the interdisciplinary health care team, first as a family Medicine resident based in Byron in 1980-81 and then later joining the teaching staff and starting my own Family Practice at the Byron Family Medical Centre. What a great place it has been for me to work for over 35 years now! I look forward to continuing to work here supporting the great job my colleagues do.
I hope you and your family agree that we are all fortunate to be connected with the Byron Family Medical Centre.
I am happy to introduce you to our new partner, Dr Andrew Hemphill, joining us in the summer.
John Jordan MD, MClSc, CCFP, FCFP.
